Welcome to the CEAD BMR 4.5 Speaker experience.

The CEAD BMR, utilising patented technology, simultaneously operates in PISTONIC and VIBRATIONAL modes to generate wide bandwidth acoustic output with a flat frequency response, consistent dispersion and low distortion.
In contrast, a BMR is a modal loudspeaker, which uses prescribed panel shapes, where a limited number of bending resonances are harnessed. The two simple shapes which are used to exploit this technology are circular Audio Full Range (AFR) and high aspect ratio (HARP) speakers. The panel is built into a chassis, much like a traditional loudspeaker, with a voice coil, surround and spider, but the use of a flat panel makes the unit shallower. Application of BMR technology to AFR and HARP makes for a substantially flat, full-range on-axis frequency response combined with wide directivity.CEAD BMR 4.5
The CEAD BMR is a full bandwidth, high sensitivity in Wall / In Ceiling Speaker. Created for applications requiring a high quality speaker that delivers a combination of premium quality for music, speech reinforcement, class leading voice intelligibility and exceptional reliability.
The design comprises a 114mm (4.5") CEAD BMR Driver mounted in an injection moulded, paintable front baffle manufactured from UV/weather resistant UL94V-0 ABS material. Stainless steel Grille and Zinc Back Can. The CEAD BMR 4.5 is supplied with one C-ring and two tile support rails in the package.
This product is currently being evaluated by UL and has been designed and manufactured to and meet applicable safety standards relating to UL-1480 and UL-2043.
DRIVE UNIT
The CEAD BMR features the revolutionary BALANCED MODE RADIATOR (BMR) Driver which generates a much wider frequency response than comparable style speakers delivering deeper and more powerful bass, cleaner mid & high range frequencies plus incredibly spacious sound.
The CEAD BMR utilising patented "Bending Wave Technology" simultaneously operates in PISTONIC and VIBRATIONAL modes delivering wide-bandwidth acoustic output with a flat frequency response, consistent dispersion and low distortion.
FEATURES
Low Power Performance
The CEAD BMR has been engineered to deliver high quality sound and the full range of operational frequencies across a wide range of power settings. The Speaker is very efficient and a highlight of the CEAD BMR is even at low volume settings you will hear music and voice as they were meant to be.
Challenging the Inverse Square Law
CEAD BMR exhibits less "Fall-Off Level over Distance". At a typical listening distance of 3.5m a conventional speaker would lose approximately 11dB SPL whereas a CEAD BMR loses only approximately 4dB.
True Wide Dispersion
The CEAD BMR employs a flat diaphragm and delivers a natural acoustic output and even dispersion across all frequencies. This means that fewer CEAD BMR units can be utilised to achieve the same or better coverage.
No Crossover
No crossover removes any phase shifting tendency and peaks and drops in impedance making it a more efficient load for the amplifier.
Superior Voice Intelligibility
Superior Voice Intelligibility is a key feature of the CEAD BMR, a combination of a number of factors including the fact that there is no crossover point particularly in the critical 1k to 3k region means that the CEAD BMR delivers clean crisp Voice at all sound levels.
Timing
The CEAD BMR is a true "Full Range" driver and exhibits perfect timing.
Musical Integrity
The CEAD BMR allows you to listen to music as it was created – with full depth, definition and clarity.
DESIGN FEATURES
The CEAD BMR 4.5 is equipped with a low insertion loss 15W line transformer easily configurable to the following settings via front baffle mounted rotary tapping switch:
70V systems: 15W / 7.5W / 3.75W / 1.9W / OFF & low Impedance operation
100V systems: 15W / 7.5W / 3.75W / OFF & low Impedance operation
The zinc plated steel back cans have an integrated, recessed termination box. The removable locking connector has screw terminals for secure wire termination and "loop through" facility. Strain relief is provided by a clamping mechanism for use with plenum rated cable or conduit.
Stainless Steel Grilles ensure smooth clean low profile and no unsightly staining.
The CEAD BMR 4.5 is supplied with one C-ring and two tile support rails in the package.
NWAA Labs
Akoustiks has commissioned NWAA Labs, an independent laboratory providing uniform product testing of loudspeakers and materials to the audio and acoustics industry, to undertake an extensive specification verification programme for its loudspeaker products.
Unlike any other laboratory in the world, NWAA Labs has the ability to do MACH™ Testing and high SPL testing of these items to meet or exceed ISO and ASTM standards.
Led by former NASA design engineer and scientist, Ron Sauro, the NWAA Labs team combines the talents of well respected researchers, acousticians and consultants to provide unmatched state-of-the-art testing and product development support.
MACH™ testing
Originally developed by NASA design engineer and scientist Ron Sauro in 1968 for use in testing the Pioneer, Explorer and Voyager spacecrafts in addition to the manned Apollo lunar program, the MACH™ Testing method has been reformulated into a revolutionary process for evaluating loudspeakers and materials. This cross-pollination of technology from the realm of space research to the world of sound and acoustics research has produced a high-speed testing system unlike any other.
The MACH™ testing method uses a proprietary array comprised of 19 matched Earthworks M-30 microphones and a Linear X precision turntable capable of one tenth degree accuracy. It simultaneously samples impulse responses within an anechoic chamber and uses these to create loudspeaker radiation balloons. This data is gathered by a multi-channel version of EASERA, using appropriate stimuli, and then is converted to EASE V4, EASE V3, CLF 1 and 2 formats.
